Armistice with Germany signed @ Compiègne

The armistice treaty between the Allies and Germany is signed in a railway carriage in woods near Compiègne on November 11th1918. Principal signatories were the Allied Commander-in-chief, Marshal Ferdinand Foch, and Matthias Erzberger, a representative of the German government.

Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria @ Sarajevo

The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria  occurred on 28 June 1914 in Sarajevo, part of the Austro-Hungarian EmpireFranz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, was traveling with his wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg in an open-topped car when both were shot dead by Gavrilo Princip, one of a group of six assassins coordinated by Danilo Ilić.
